ISSY B II - Restoration Project
The ISSY B II was originally built by David Stevens on Second Peninsula, Lunenburg, NS. She was launched here in 1958 and so is currently 66 years young.
She has been with the same family in Chester since she was launched.
She is now looking for a new home/owner/caretaker.
Issy B II is a distinctive motor launch that has been part of the scenery in Chester N.S. for a long time and also an important piece of Nova Scotia's boatbuilding heritage.
The work
Old Town Boatworks is excited to bring someone the opportunity to own and enjoy a piece of Nova Scotia history.
Our skilled team of Boatbuilders and Marine Finishers are keen to bring the Issy B II back to the standard she deserves.
Her bones look to be in good order. The planking and keel are sound. Issy B II needs a new engine, new cockpit sole, and some house repairs. She is currently covered and properly stored to protect her from the elements but she would look much better out exploring the islands.
In 1976 the Issy B II featured in the film 'Echoes of Summer' starring Jodie Foster.
Some of the Issy B's history...

Randolph Steven's would regularly take the family out to and around the islands on fishing and leisure trips in his boat. As he looked to retire his son (Shipwright David Stevens) was commissioned by the family to build a 'replica' of the boat they had spent happy times on. The family enjoyed many leisurely trips in the Mahone Bay islands, including overnighters.
These are a couple of 'Back in the day' photos sent from the family who have owned Issy B from the beginning.
