PAUL BASKETT

Owner & Shipwright

 

A graduate of the Landing School of Boatbuilding in Maine USA, and a former shipwright with Spirit Yachts in the UK. 

 

Paul set up Old Town Boatworks in his home town of Lunenburg in 2014.

 

He has over twenty years of experience in the marine industry.

Paul is a former member of Canada's National Sailing Team and spends his spare time sailing his 28' Herreshoff cutter out of Lunenburg.

JARA KOURENKOVA

Shipwright

 

Jara has been working with us for 2 years now and brings an unparalleled work ethic and team spirit.

She attended the first year of the NSCC Heritage Carpentry Course and has experience in different boat yards across Canada.

She has an enthusiasm for learning and has developed many skills in a short space of time which allows her to work with autonomy on many high end wooden boat projects.

We are lucky to have her on the team

DEVIN KRUPNIK
Shipwright
 

Devin has been with us for over 2 years and is an integral team member.

He owns a small sail boat which he both works on and enjoys.

Devin is a keen and dedicated craftsman who always brings the attention to detail and logistics that we are grateful for

EMMA MAY
Office Manager
Marine Finisher

 

Emma moved to NS from the UK in 2015 (with no marine experience).

She has learnt the patience and skills it takes to be a Finisher at Old Town Boatworks.

She is now a co-owner of her first sailboat and takes pride in maintaining and improving the paint and varnish onboard.

She is also the Office Manager, trying to keep the site running smoothly

BRANDON PEVERILL
Apprentice Shipwright
 

Brandon attended the 1st year at the NSCC Heritage Carpentry Course bringing the building block skills in woodworking to develop as a Shipwright under the guidance and support of some very skilled and experienced crafts persons.

LAUREN SHARRATT

Apprentice Finisher

Lauren has been with us for over 18 months now and is already an integral part of the team. She has an amazing eye for detail and, through hard work and dedication, the skill needed for the detailed aspects of marine bright work we pride ourselves on here. 

She has seamlessly transferred the skills she learnt as a motor car detailer to the boat work she is now doing.

She has a passion for cars and has done some amazing detailing on her own and other vehicles.

 

She also has three very sweet dogs that she likes to spend her time with!

TREVOR HANNAM
Apprentice Finisher

Trevor came to us because he wanted to work with boats.

His Grandfather was a well-known local boat-builder and Trevor is continuing the tradition as a Marine Finisher.

He has an incredible work ethic and enthusiasm.

He is enjoying his work on a beautiful 70 year old Alden that is currently undergoing a major rebuild
