Lead Shipwright

We are lucky to have Larry on our team. Since graduating from, the now extinct, community college boatbuilding program in Bridgewater, he has built over one hundred boats.

Larry is a consummate woodworker and one of Nova Scotia's most experienced shipwrights. He was in charge of building many of Covey Island Boatworks most iconic yachts during his 25 years with the company.

Larry also has his own furniture company and is restoring his own 1947 Dragon class sloop.

A lifelong woodworker, James and his family moved to Lunenburg in 2006. Prior to that, they lived on a converted ferry boat in Bermuda where James had a woodworking business building custom furniture and custom boat interiors.

Since moving to Nova Scotia James has built houses, tiny house, and continued to work on boats. He also practices and teaches Aikido at his school in Lunenburg.

When not working James, and his wife Jennifer, sail in Mahone Bay in search of dolphins.

Michael has spent the last two decades working on a variety of boatbuilding projects from Nova Scotia to Antigua. He contributed to the building of the new Bluenose II and the restoration of the second bluenose class sloop ever built.

Michael also built his own Paul Gartside-designed custom gaff-rigged cutter that he has twice sailed to the Carribean and back. Lunenburg is his home port.

Tony has 45 years experience in custom woodwork. He is a graduate of North Bennett St Industrial School '76 where he studied traditional furniture making.

Tony ran his own sawmill in Massachusetts and worked in several New England and Nova Scotian boatyards before starting the Lunenburg Furniture Company in 2013.

His partnership with Old Town Boatworks greatly increases our ability to handle bigger interior joinery projects.
